LESSON 4: Dimensionalizing The Dilemma

Jeff December 19, 2020

In Lesson 3 we focused on creating the false antagonist because the real killer remains hidden until the end, and we began creating an ally for our protagonist. Some aspects of our story are starting to crystallize in the midst of creative chaos. We’re still exploding with possibilities, but we’re also finding a center of gravity, too. In this lesson we’ll focus again on our protagonist’s Dilemma, making it deeper and more complex, and we’ll also get back to the original energy of our idea to counter seeing it as a dry storytelling puzzle rather than a harrowing thriller that rocks our world.

HINT FOR NAVIGATING THIS COURSE: In both Topics 4.2 and 4.3, you have two assignments for each of them so just put them both onto one document and upload them. Just keep working along with me as we build this thriller. We’re going through every step of building this complete original script so just follow along and do the assignments and exercises. They are designed to help you develop habits of thinking, to retrain your brain in the subtle aspects of the tools and processes that I use. Think of yourself as my copilot in this process. In Lesson 4, the topics that have assignments or exercises are 4.2, 4.3, 4.4, 4.5, and 4.7.
